Welcome
Counselling is not just for people with a mental health condition, it is a space to talk through whatever is worrying you, no matter how big or small that my seem to you - it matters and what you have to say matters and I want to offer you a safe, secure place to do that. A place where you feel truly understood and accepted exactly as you are without judgment, a place to explore and make sense of your thoughts, feelings and emotions. A space to help you to unpick and understand why you are feeling the way you are and to explore how to move forward.

Do you find that you often put others needs above your own? Maybe you've forgotten what it’s like to take care of your own wants and needs. I wonder if you are even aware you have needs or have simply lost touch with what they are and how to get those met?

Counselling is an investment in you, a space where it is all about you and your needs. It might be the only time you have to focus on you and your own mental health without any outside stressors. After all, without our mental health, what do we have left? Looking after ourselves from the inside out is necessary to our well being.

We've all heard the saying that it's good to talk, but have you noticed that people rarely listen? Do they truly listen and take in what you are saying without offering unsolicited advice or brushing it off?

Maybe you are met with unhelpful suggestions as to how you can feel better or you are told to “look at the positives”. Counsellors don't do that; I won’t do that. I will listen and really hear you. I will try to understand what you are going through and help you find ways to move forward in your own time - I will not rush you and have no expectations. This is your journey.

I am genuinely interested in what you have to say, I want to hear about your experiences and how it feels for you. I want to help you to make sense of your thoughts and feelings and feel better by truly getting to know you and holding a safe space so I can sit beside you in your pain and help you to understand your struggles.
If now's the time you've decided you would like to go ahead and speak to a counsellor, as scary as that may seem (and counselling does not have to be scary) you have already made the first step; the next step would be to contact me either by email at emmakellycounselling@hotmail.com or by leaving me a message on my phone or by texting 07933957478 - whatever feels like the easiest way for you. I work both online and face to face.
